My Story

From technician to an amateur extra in just four months.
Hi, I’m NJ2RQ.
By day, I work in personnel and human services, but when the laptop closes, my world revolves around the “hum” of electronics and the art of staying connected. Based out of New Jersey, I’m a licensed Amateur Extra radio operator and a dedicated gear enthusiast.
I didn’t just stumble into this hobby; I dove in headfirst. From earning my licenses to becoming an ARRL Volunteer Examiner, I’ve spent countless hours figuring out which equipment actually delivers on its promises and which ones just take up space on the desk.
Why I’m Here
I started this blog because I realized that finding the right gear can be overwhelming. Whether it’s a high-end transceiver or a simple connector, the “best” choice isn’t always the most expensive one—it’s the one that works when you need it to.
I’ve turned my obsession with “the right tool for the job” into a resource for you. I spend my time digging through listings and testing hardware so you don’t have to. Think of me as your scout in the world of tech: I find the deals, test the limits, and share the results right here.
When I’m not on the air or writing about gear, you can usually find me at home with my beagles and Labradors, likely eyeing my next antenna project or exploring the tech inside my Toyota bZ.
